I took a little break yesterday on account of oral surgery, but I’m back with a yummy recipe for Pear Bread.


1 1/2 Cup all purpose flour

1 Cup sugar

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 large egg

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon grated lemon zest

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 1/2 cup grated peeled ripe pears with juice


Step 1: Preheat oven 350° and grease 9x5in loaf pan.

Step 2: Whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg thoroughly in a bowl

Step 3: In a large bowl whisk together the egg, oil, vanilla, lemon zest, lemon juice and grated pear.

Step 4: Add flour mixture and stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Scrape batter into pan and spread evenly. Bake until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean about 75-80 minutes. Let cool in pan 5-10 minutes before unmolding to cool completely on the rack.

Yields 10-12 servings
